We are accepting Nominations for our Board of Directors for 2026 -2027
Board service offers an exciting opportunity to engage with colleagues across the state, develop new skills, and advance the AWHE mission of supporting women in higher education through professional development, advocacy, and networking.
Eligibility Criteria:
Individuals must meet the following criteria to be eligible to serve on the Board:
- Currently or previously employed at a higher education institution or an organization that supports higher education initiatives for at least three years
- Currently reside in Arizona or work remotely for an Arizona Institution remotely
- Actively involved as a member of AWHE at least one year
- Served as an Institutional Representatives for AWHE for at least one year or serve in a leadership role at your higher education institution.
Board Responsibilities and Open Roles for Nomination for 26-27
- All Board Members
- Support AWHE’s organizational pillars: Annual Conference | Mentorship Program | Leadership Institute
- Sign a commitment letter outlining expectations for event attendance, committee participation and regular meeting attendance
- Actively engage in AWHE events and board meetings
- Vice President
- Serves for a two-year term as Vice President, followed by two – year term as President
- Partners with the AWHE President to support the Board of Directors, State Co-Chairs and Institutional Representatives
- Serves as co-lead or advisor to the Professional Development Committee
- Serves as Nominations/Elections Coordinator for Board of Directors Members and Officers
- Secretary
- Serves a three-year term
- Maintains minutes of each Board of Directors meeting
- Responsible for documenting and preserving the history and significant events of the organization
- Co-leads or advises the membership management committe
- Board Members at Large (6-8 vacancies)
- Fulfill at least two roles including mentoring, conducting workshops, sitting on an AWHE committee, or presenting at the annual conference
- Attend the annual conference meeting
Nominations and Election Timeline:
- April 17: Call for Nominations
- May 11: Nominations close
- May 13: Candidate information and ballots available to members – Voting Opens
- May 27: Voting period closes
- June 1: New Board Members announced
