Arizona Women in Higher Education (AWHE) is a part of a system of volunteer state networks that started in 1977 under the American Council on Education with funding from the Carnegie Corporation. The purpose of the Networks is to provide professional development to women to prepare for more advanced administrative and leadership positions. AWHE is one of forty-seven networks across the country serving over 10,000 women each year. As a state network, AWHE conducts a yearly conference, facilitates a mentoring program, and hosts other virtual events to promote professional development and networking throughout the year.
AWHE recently expanded our involvement opportunities by adding a free membership for women across the state. We are continuing this expansion by providing opportunities for institutions to be involved as chapters. This year, institutions can apply to join as an official AWHE chapter. For our inaugural year, we are offering this opportunity to five institutions.
The Chapter Affiliation Agreement outlines the relationship between Arizona Women in Higher Education (“AWHE”) and its local Chapters. The intent of the agreement is to establish clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and expectations for AWHE and each local Chapter.
This year, we are accepting five inaugural chapters, who will be recognized in perpetuity on the AWHE website. The cost to join AWHE as an inaugural chapter is $1,500. Chapter membership will renew annually at the Annual AWHE Conference. Membership applications must be completed by institution President/Chancellor/Designated Representative.
